Differentiated Math Fact Practice

Making Ten

4th Grade Resources

Five for Friday February 6, 2015

It's February, and that means High Frequency Word Evaluations!   I only have two kids who still need to pass before the end of the year. (A proportion standard around these parts)  Most of them have started on second grade words.
First grade teachers know that the writing process is sometimes a little slow!  I have always felt like guiding the writing process with my kiddos was one of the things I constantly needed to work on.  I just feel like I'm lost sometimes when kids can barely write letters in the beginning of the year, and need to be writing sentences at the end of the year.   To that end I attended a couple of awesome workshops led by Cara Carroll from The First Grade Parade at the SDE First Grade Conference a couple of weeks ago in San Marcos, Texas.  (More about the conference here.).  SHe provided some GREAT strategies that I couldn't wait to try out.  (Check out her Writing Goodies post) I hadn't even gotten a chance to really implement any if these GREAT strategies when I got back as I started looking as some if my kids writing.
This great graphic organizer is from A Year of Many Firsts.
These are first drafts!!   I can't wait for the revising and editing.  I am always amazed at the huge jumps our kids make in the middle if the year, especially in writing.
We have been working on our Winter themed Common Core Daily Math practice. It amazes me to see the hard work that my kids are going on math strategies!
This face says is all!
100th Day of School!  Fun for all.
And finally,
I have a fabulous reader who just LOVES to read to the class.  They just adore having a friend read to them. So, guess what?  I let her, as often as I can!
Come back on February 14th for a great blog hop featuring some of my favorite blogger friends in Texas:
