Happy New Year and Teachers of Instagram linky

Happy New Year!

I enter this year with great anticipation.  I have so much planned for this year.  One of the most exciting things going on in my life right now is that Katie is finally reading.  Katie is in first grade, and as a first grade teacher, wondered when this day would come!  I know, I know, I need to just take some of my own advise to parents, and just do what I should be doing as a parent and the rest will come.  But, it is very hard being a parent of a first grader!  One of my goals this year is to spend a whole lot more time with Katie.  I want to really do things that will grow her creativity.  I used to love to do crafts as a child. (and still do!)  I want to sit for hours with her creating things!

One the biggest that we have as a family is to travel to Washington DC by train.  My husband loves trains, and we have talked about a train trip for a while now.  My sister lives just outside of D.C. and we have planned to go to see then  at least every other year. We live in Houston, so we will take the train to New Orleans and then take the train from New Orleans to just south of D.C. in Prince William County.  Lat year we went to Disney World completely paid by my TpT earning.  I hope that TpT will come through again for our vacation!

I have joined up with some of my Instagram Teacher friends to link my three favorite pins of the last year.  I just love instagram!  I have really enjoyed getting to know some of my teachers friends, not only through their products on TpT, but also getting to know a bit about their personal lives.  And... I also enjoy an outlet for all of the cute pictures I take of my Katie!  I have also just learned to use some of the Instagram editing apps out there.  REALLY COOL!

Elizabeth from "Kicking it in Kinder" is hosting a linky to help everyone "find" each other.  Come and check out some of the other cool teachers on Instagram.

These are my three faves from the last year:

Katie and I spent a night at the Memorial City Westin in Houston.  They are right across from the American Girl Store in the Memorial City Mall.  Apparently, some people come to Houston just to go to the American Girl Store!  Who new? (Unless you have a girl 7-11)  The Westin has teamed up with AG to provide the "American Girl Experience"  We got to the hotel and there were all kinds of surprises awaiting us!  Cake pops, a special bed for Kaya (Katie's historical AG), free breakfast, and all kinds of special treatment.  This pic is the first photo collage that ever created.  I'm quite proud of myself!

My Second pic:

Mommy loves to cook, and so does Katie!  We were making waffles one morning.  She decided to really "do them up."   It involved whipped cream, chocolate sauce, marshmallows and syrup!  We dressed up in my Brennans chef hat that I got from my birthday celebration and my apron that I got on our trip to Disney World last summer.  Isn't she cute!

Pic #3:

Our dog Penny died after being run over by a car in front of our house.  It was a rather traumatic event for the whole family!  The next day we went to the SPCA to "Look" at the puppies.  We came home with these sweet brothers!  Katie had named them before we even left the place.  Scruff and Angel are wonderful additions to our family.

  1. What a sad story about your dog...so sorry. I can't even imagine! Glad you were able to find dogs that needed a home. Thanks for linking up!
